1870 - Goldsmith's founded by Jacob Goldsmith.
1959 - Goldsmith's acquired by Federated Department Stores.
1988 - After Campeau acquired Federated Stores, Goldsmith's Memphis operations were consolidated into Rich's Atlanta. The Goldsmith's nameplate was maintained on its six stores in Memphis and Jackson, TN.
1995 - Federated merged Columbus-based Lazarus into the Atlanta-based Rich's/Goldsmith's, creating a 75-store, $2.2 billion powerhouse.
2005 - Federated converted nameplate from Goldsmith's-Macy's to Macy's.
